5 Ways to Lower Your Carbon Footprint

Now has never been a more important time for us to be more sustainable. Lowering your carbon footprint is a great place to start and there are some changes that we can all make which could really help.

1. Buy More Sustainable Clothing

Surprisingly perhaps, the fashion industry is highly polluting and accounts for 10% of all humanity’s carbon. Find sustainable clothing brands or, even better, buy second hand.

2. Eat Less Meat and Dairy

Eating red meat once a week or choosing to eat white meat instead can have a significant impact on your personal carbon footprint. Why not try going vegan 1 day a week? There are lots of easy recipes on line.

3. Use Less Plastic

Not only do they pollute our oceans and waterways but plastics take huge amounts of energy to produce and are made from oil which is a finite resource so won’t last forever.

4. Drive Less

Make those shorter journeys on foot if you can. Could you cycle to work once a week or if not could you use public transport? If you need to drive could you car-share?

5. Reduce, Reuse & Recycle

OK so this is more than one way and covers some of the above but doing all three can make a real difference e.g. reduce by only buying what you need, reuse plastic containers and recycle (see our previous blog post on how you can recycle soft plastics).
